Hope United Methodist Church in Marshalltown will dedicated their new organ installation at a service on Sunday September 18, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. Hope UMC is located at 2201 S. 3rd Ave. in the south-east area of Marshalltown. The original D B Barden (1970) pipe organ was removed from Riverside Church in St. Joseph, MI, by the G M Buck Organ Company of Grand Rapids, MI, and stored until adequate funding was realized. In October 2010 a contract was signed and the pipe organ was enlarged by two additional ranks and a digital component was added. The eleven rank organ has 4 divisions, 38 stops, tremulant, 15 couplers, with 970 pipes. There are 99 memory levels for each of ten general pistons and 6 great, and 6 swell pistons. The housing for the organ was built by Brycom Corp. of Marshalltown with the organ chambers located at the rear of the sanctuary. The Antiphonal is all digital and speakers are at the front. There is a recording and playback feature which allows for 252 fifteen minute recordings. The unit is also midi-capable, both in and out. The console is on a moveable platform built by Dave Beane, a Hope UMC parishioner.

The dedication service included organ solo selections by Gladbrook organist, Chad Mussig, Hope organist, John Devlin, Chancel Choir, Deborah Nuss, director, Chimes of Hope, Libby Bowie, director, a brass choir, pastor Scott Lothe, and many others who have been instrumental in this project. A dessert reception followed.
